TAMPA - The Bulls are taking their talents to Milwaukee, Wisc., after Saturday's huge home win.
The USF women's basketball team is ready to take on Marquette 7 p.m. Tuesday after dominating Villanova in Saturday's 54-39 victory at the USF Recreation Center.
"In this league, every game is a test," USF head coach Jose Fernandez said. "You have to play your best every night or else you are going to get beat. If we can come out and execute our game plan, we should have a good chance to get a win."
The Bulls (13-13, 5-7) accomplished pretty much everything they wanted to Saturday by outrebounding Villanova, 42-34, and holding the Wildcats to a season-low point total.
"You know, I was really pleased with the effort that we got from our players against Villanova," Fernandez said. "It was a game we needed to win at home and we were able to get the job done. When we rebound the ball and play tough defense we can compete with anyone."
USF got another standout performance from Andrell Smith, who posted a season-high 22 points after going 4-for-8 from 3-point range. The Lakeland native has produced double-digit scoring totals in each of the Bulls' past three games.
"Andrell has been playing really well for us on both ends of the floor," Fernandez said. "She is crashing the boards and playing well defensively as well as shooting the ball well. When she plays with confidence and gets to the rim she can be a very dynamic player."
The Bulls return home after Wednesday's game to host Pitt 7 p.m. Saturday at the USF Recreation Center. Admission is free for fans.
