Flowers & Nadelman Earn Conference Honors

TAMPA, Nov. 6, 2017 – USF senior quarterback Quinton Flowers (Miami) was named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Week and senior kicker Emilio Nadelman (Miami) the Special Teams Player of the Week following the Bulls' 37-20 victory at UConn.

Flowers, who posted just the fourth 500-yard total offense game in conference history Saturday in East Hartford, earns conference player of the week honors for the first time this season and the fourth time on his career. Flowers' 516 total yards broke his own USF game record, which stands as the fourth-highest total in conference history. It marked his 16th career game with 300-plus total yards, a new USF record surpassing Matt Grothe's record of 15.

Flowers threw for a career-high 385 yards, the second-most in USF history, and added three passing touchdowns as he posted his second-straight 300-yard passing game of the season. He also ran for 131 yards to log his 13th career 100-yard rushing game as he recorded his 28th career win as a starting quarterback at USF, a mark that ties Grothe for second-most all-time.

Nadelman earned conference player of the week honors for the third time on the year, as he went a perfect 3-for-3 on field goal attempts and scored 13 points in Saturday's win. Among his makes was a career-long 51-yard field goal, just the 10th field goal of 50-plus yards in USF history.

Nadelman leads the conference, hitting 85.7 percent of his field goals and making 2.0 per game. His 18 field goals on the year are just one shy of the USF season record held by Maikon Bonani (2011) and Delbert Alvarado (2007).

USF (8-1; 5-1 AAC) moved up to No. 22 in the AP Top 25 Poll and No. 21 in the Amway Coaches Poll, marking a program record 15th straight week in the top 25. USF marks its 41st week in program history appearing in the Top 25. The entire AP and Coaches polls can be seen here: http://www.espn.com/college-football/rankings.

The Bulls will enjoy a bye this week before returning to action next Thursday in an ESPN primetime game vs. Tulsa slated for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff in Raymond James Stadium. The game will mark the last regular season home game for 23 seniors that have helped USF to three straight bowl games, a Top 25 ranking and a 31-16 record in the last four seasons, including a 19-3 mark since 2016.
