Bulls Set for Exhibition Game Against FGCU
TAMPA (Aug. 7, 2017)— The USF women's soccer team will welcome FGCU to Corbett Stadium for an exhibition match Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 7 p.m., at Corbett Stadium.
The Bulls finished the 2016 season 12-4-3, outscoring opponents, 36-21. USF made national news, holding the longest perfect record in the country with eight-straight wins. Forward
Evelyne Viens, the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, returns this season after an impressive freshman campaign, netting 16 goals, including a hat trick and three game-winners.
Senior goalkeeper
Kat Elliott returns this season after spending 1724 minutes in goal with 75 saves and a .781 save percentage. The Bulls also welcome back defender
Kelli Burney who started all 19 games last season, and will continue to be a staple for the Bulls' back line.
The Opponent
FGCU finished its 2016 campaign with a 14-5-1 record and an ASUN championship. The Eagles lost seven seniors, including leading goal-scorer Tabby Tindell, and will look to Emilie Olsen to lead the way. She finished the 2016 season with six goals, two game-winners and three assists. Goalkeeper Melissa Weck will stay on for FGCU after an impressive 73 saves and a .811 save percentage during her freshman season.
Notables
- In 2016, head coach Denise Schilte-Brown reached her 100th win at USF with an overtime victory against ECU.
- This will be Schilte-Brown's 11th year at the helm of the Bulls.
- Six starters return this season.
- As a freshman, Viens tied the school record for goals in a season, recorded a hat trick, and was named American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, first team all-conference and was an all-rookie team selection.
- USF has a lot of fresh faces this season with 17 newcomers.

The USF women's soccer team has posted five consecutive seasons of 10-plus wins and six in the last seven years under head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. Schilte-Brown reached her 100th win with USF last season, and will begin her eleventh season as head coach in 2017. The Bulls made their first NCAA tournament appearance in 2010 and returned in 2014 & 2015.
