Bulls Compete at Mountain Dew Invitational
GAINESVILLE, Fla., SEPT. 23, 2017 – The University of South Florida cross country team traveled north to compete in the Mountain Dew Invitational on Saturday morning.

Female Results
Senior John Weaver was once again the top male runner for the Bulls. The Jacksonville, Fla. native finished the 8k in 26:06.1, placing 17th overall in a field of over 200 runners. Weaver set a personal best on the course by about a minute and has been the fastest male runner in each of USF's first three meets.
Freshman Rania Samhouri was the top USF performer on the female side. The Tampa native completed the 5k in 19:01.8, 39th overall. Like Weaver, Samhouri has also been the fastest female Bull in all three meets.
QUOTABLE
Head Coach Dena Reif on the Bulls' performances:
"Both teams need to move the 2-5 pack closer to our number 1 (runner) to improve as a team."

"Great teams and competition at UF and just what we needed to prove our team still needs a lot of hard work to get better."
Coach Reif on preparing for the next meet:
"It is an open week next week so a great time to dig into training before we travel to FSU."
KEY STAT
- Three freshman, on the male and female teams, placed in the top six spots for USF.
NOTABLE:
- The meet was held at the UF Golf Course starting at 7:50 a.m.
- Junior Cash Tampa (St. John's, Fla.) finished second for the USF men with a time of 26:47.2.
- Fellow classmate Sam Geiman (West Palm Beach, Fla.) placed third among the USF runners, completing the 8k in 27:26.4.
- Freshman Evan Babatz (Ft. Myers, Fla.), Matt Neeley (St. Johns, Fla.) and Evan Camps (Melbourne, Fla.) rounded out the top six for the men.
- Senior Sarah Hartman (Tampa) finished second for the USF women with a time of 19:38.7 as sophomore Claire Farnsworth (Lecanto, Fla.) took third in 19:40.5
- Junior Yaranel Abreu (St. Augustine, Fla.), freshman Annie Allmark (Riviera Beach, Fla.) and freshman Nicole Taggart (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) finished four thru six for USF.
UP NEXT:
The Bulls are off next weekend but will visit Tallahassee, Fla. to participate in the FSU Invitational on Friday, Oct. 6. The men's 8k will start at 7:40 a.m. The women's 5k is expected to start at 8:20 a.m.
