USF Doubles Pairs Shine at Rice Invite

HOUSTON, Texas (Sept. 25, 2017) – The USF women's tennis team opened its fall slate in Houston at the Rice Invitational.
 
Juniors Nicole Dzenga (Harare, Zimbabwe) and Vanja Klaric (Serbia) defeated teams from Houston (6-3), Kansas (6-0) and Rice (6-4) to claim the flight one doubles title.
 
Another seasoned pair, seniors Juliana Cardoso (Descalvado, Brazil) and Jessica Cores Chaves (Monterrey, Mexico) had doubles success earning a 6-3 win over a team from Rice in the second doubles flight, and playing an extra match defeating a Sam Houston duo, 7-5.
 
Junior Ana Roman Dominguez joined forces with newcomer Evelyne Tiron, and together they had two doubles wins, a 7-6(5) triumph over a pair from Oklahoma, and a 6-3 win over SMU.  
 
Four Bulls had two singles wins including freshman Evelyne Tiron (Romania), Cardoso, Cortes Chaves and Dzenga.
