Softball Falls to No. 13/14 Florida

GAINESVILLE, April 19, 2023 – The University of South Florida (27-19, 6-3 ACC) fell to the No. 13/14 Florida Gators (32-11, 8-7 SEC), 7-3, on Wednesday night in Gainesville.
The Gators took the early lead in the first inning on a two-run homerun. South Florida answered with one run in the next half inning. Rian Eigenmann (Millville, N.J.) won her 10-pitch at bat with a single through the right side. She was brought home on a double from Jordyn Kadlub (Wesley Chapel) to cut Florida's lead to one.
In the fourth inning, with Florida leading 3-1, Vivian Ponn (Fort Myers) stepped up to the plate and hit her third homerun in a week to tie the game at three.
The Bulls and Gators were scoreless through the next two and half innings. South Florida sent three different pitchers to the circle. Gabriella Nori (Weston) pitched 4.0 innings and struck out four bringing her season total to 74. Lexie Kopko (Stewartstown, Pa.) and Ponn also pitched an inning with Kopko throwing 1.1. She had the Bulls last strikeout and allowed zero hits.
