George Courides was named USF football head strength and conditioning coach in December of 2022, joining head coach Alex Golesh’s first USF staff. He was elevated to Director of Football Sports Performance in January of 2025 as he entered his third season leading the Bulls strength and conditioning development.

The Collegeville, Pa., native came to USF after six seasons serving on the strength and conditioning staff for
Iowa State football (2017-22), most recently at associate head strength and conditioning coach.
Courides worked with Golesh for three seasons (2017-19) at Iowa State and was part of the major turn-around that saw the program go from three wins to a Fiesta Bowl victory.
Courides helped foster incredible improvement during his time in Ames. The Cyclones qualified for five-straight bowl games, annually appeared in the national rankings and totaled five of ISU’s six above-.500 conference seasons in the history of the Big 12 Conference (1996-present) since 2017.
The 2020 season was historic in many ways. Iowa State finished the regular season in first place in the Big 12 standings, made the Big 12 Championship game and qualified for a New Year’s Six bowl for the first time in school history. The Cyclones capped off the season with a 34-17 win over Oregon in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl.
ISU’s eight conference wins and nine overall wins eclipsed or tied school records, and the Cyclones earned their highest ranking in school history during the season (No. 6) and postseason (No. 9).
Prior to his arrival in Ames, Courides served two seasons as a full-time intern in the NFL, working for the
New York Jets (2015-16) strength and conditioning staff. He assisted with the Jets player nutritional needs, program design and implementation and individual weight training regiments.
A native of Collegeville, Pa., Courides also served as the head strength and conditioning coach at
Phoenixville Area High School (Pa.) in 2015 and was a graduate assistant for the
East Stroudsburg University strength staff in 2014.
Courides, who is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), earned both his bachelor’s degree (2008) and master’s degree (2015) at East Stroudsburg State.
He was a member of the rugby team at ESU, helping the team win the 2007 Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union (EPRU) title.
Courides and his wife, Chloe, have a daughter, Harper, and a son, Mack.
